Yellow Text in Google, What is this?

Have you noticed that some texts in Google are highlighted yellow, This is Google has done for a reason, read below:

Google highlight results

Google is going to highlight relevant sections in yellow. In addition, it will automatically scroll to the right part of the site. That will save you a lot of time. Unfortunately, right now it’s only in the Featured Snippets. Those are the bars that appear at the top of search results. In Dutch, it’s also called summaries.

Clicking on such a bar takes you to the relevant website. The difference with normal search results in Google is that you immediately see yellow areas appear there. The browser then immediately scrolls to the selected area.

As a website administrator, can you make sure the yellow highlighting is shown?

Do you also want that yellow highlighting on your website? When you appear as a featured snippet in search results, you don’t have to do anything for that yellow highlighting. This happens completely automatically. Therefore, there is no need to add any special code to your website.

Yellow highlighting does not affect SEO

Of course, it looks very interesting to highlight sections of text in yellow. However, you should know that yellow highlighting does not influence on SEO (search engine optimization). You will not be found better or worse in the search results.
Do you want to be visible for certain search terms, preferably at the top of the search results? Then make use of these search terms and place them in the text. This works better than yellow highlighting the text. The latter is only interesting for the website visitor himself, for example, to quickly look up an important piece of text.

Is it convenient to mark various text yellow yourself?

That yellow highlighting of the text is actually quite interesting. It allows you to emphasize an important piece of text.

Fortunately, you don’t have to wait for Google and a featured snippet to highlight part of your text in yellow: you can easily do this yourself. Be careful not to overdo this. When you highlight the entire text yellow you achieve the opposite effect. Therefore, do not highlight more than one to two sentences. And then only the most important sentences, too.
To yellow highlight text, use a piece of code that you place in the HTML version of the web page. This code looks like this:
